Scheduled appointments are recommended in order to avoid, if not eliminate, unecessary waiting time. Of course, just like in human medicine, priority is given to emergencies, even if you were unable to phone ahead,  leading to occasional unexpected delays for other scheduled appointments. 
  
An estimate can be provided for any particular veterinary service or suggested treatment plan.
